8 years ago, a dude from Dubbo (Fred) and a lad from Radelaide (Grant) started Boomworks from a little loft at Grant’s place. We now have almost 30 employees working in our converted warehouse in Camperdown – so we thought we’d throw a party to celebrate with our extended family and friends.
On Friday May 18th, we shimmied down to The Civic Hotel in our dancing shoes and disco outfits (well, some of us anyway).
After scouting venues around Sydney, we finally found the perfect venue for our Disco themed party. Silje and I went on a Newtown scavenger hunt for party decorations to set the theme; old records, magazines, disco balls, wigs, inflatable guitars, feather boas. You know, the important stuff…
Sadly, the news broke the morning of the party that Donna Summer, the 70’s disco queen, had passed away. So we did our best to honour her memory. Love to love you baaaaaby. Thanks to DJ Bambalam who got everyone bopping along and kept the party going on all night.
A huge thanks to Michelle and The Civic for all of their help converting the space with as many disco lights as possible. And to JJ Halans, the talented photographer, for all the amazing party snaps! Check out the piccies
We had a ball!
Many thanks to all who helped us celebrate on the night and to those who constantly support us throughout the year.
